Brand History
Akashi Whisky is produced by Eigashima Shuzo, a historic Japanese drinks company founded in 1888 in Akashi, Hyōgo Prefecture. Originally known for brewing sake, the company began producing whisky in 1919 under the White Oak name and opened its current whisky distillery in 1984. Located near Japan’s Seto Inland Sea, the distillery produces Akashi whiskies in relatively small quantities, including approachable blends, single malts and limited cask-finished releases. The brand combines traditional Japanese craftsmanship with experience gained from more than a century of producing a wide range of alcoholic beverages.
