About Aberlour A’Bunadh Limited Edition: Sherry-Cask Collection

Aberlour A’Bunadh Sherry-Cask Collection Edition One is the inaugural release in a planned collection of three annual limited editions exploring different forms of sherry-cask influence. It was created by Aberlour Master Distiller Graeme Cruickshank and launched in October 2025 alongside the permanent A’Bunadh range.

Edition One uses a double-cask finishing process involving first-fill Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Oloroso contributes structure, dried fruit, spice, and oak character, while Pedro Ximénez adds richer sweetness, raisins, dates, and syrupy fruit. Bottling the whisky at natural cask strength without chill filtration preserves its concentrated texture and full sherry-driven character.

The official suggested retail price is £95 for a 700 mL bottle, equivalent to approximately $128 USD at launch. Current UK retail pricing remains close to £95, while Canadian listings have generally ranged from approximately C$175 to C$205. A price between $120 and $150 represents a reasonable purchase before unusually high shipping, duties, or importer markup. Because Edition One remains available through selected retailers, it does not yet have a dependable secondary-market premium. Future value may depend on availability and collector interest in the complete three-release series.

Flavor Profile

A powerful and deeply sherried Speyside single malt opening with juicy red apple, fragrant blackberry, sultanas, caramel wafers, demerara sugar, cinnamon, and a hint of stem ginger. The palate develops blackcurrant, spiced pear, rich vanilla toffee, sticky dates, raisins, oak spice, and star anise. The finish is long, fruity, syrupy, and warming, leaving dark fruit, caramelized sugar, baking spice, anise, and gently drying sherry oak.
