About Aberlour 12 Year Old Non-Chill Filtered

Aberlour 12-Year-Old Non-Chill Filtered is a higher-strength variation of the distillery’s familiar 12-year-old style. Like the standard release, it is matured in both ex-bourbon and sherry casks, but it is bottled at 48% ABV without chill filtration.

Chill filtration removes certain fatty acids, proteins, and esters to prevent whisky from becoming cloudy when chilled or diluted. By omitting this process, Aberlour retains more of the whisky’s natural oils, producing a fuller mouthfeel and more concentrated fruit, chocolate, toffee, raisin, and spice flavors. The expression is primarily distributed in France and other European markets.
