About Akashi Single Malt Whisky

Akashi Single Malt Whisky is a lightly peated Japanese single malt produced from 100% malted barley by Eigashima Shuzo at the Eigashima Distillery in Akashi, Hyōgo Prefecture. Although it carries no formal age statement, the whisky imported into the United States is reportedly matured for approximately five to eight years in a combination of ex-bourbon, barley-shochu and sherry casks, along with new oak barrels. Bottled at 92 proof, it delivers a delicate balance of orchard fruit, creamy sweetness, gentle peat and the coastal salinity associated with the distillery’s location near Japan’s Seto Inland Sea.
